What material are the ceramic inserts made out of?
Every insert is hand crafted from pottery clay and individually decorated using a wide range of ceramic-specific under glazes and top glazes.
Are the inserts suitable for outdoor use?
When using these mosaic inserts in your mosaic pieces, it is preferable not to display your mosaics outside for the following reasons:
- These ceramics are not specifically designed for outside use and may degrade when exposed to outdoor conditions. Outside UV exposure could potentially cause them to become brittle and develop cracks.
- In freezing temperatures, absorbed water freezes and expands and could cause these ceramics to crack or shatter. Outdoor environments often experience fluctuating temperatures, especially in regions with hot days and cold nights.
- Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight could also degrade the surfaces of these ceramics over time.
- These ceramics are not made to withstand external forces such as wind, falling debris and accidental impacts commonly experienced in outdoor settings.
- They are also not resistant to continual friction caused by wind, dust, sand and other particles carried by the outside environment.
- Outside exposure in coastal areas with high levels of salt in the air, could potentially corrode and degrade these ceramics. Moisture, combined with salt, could exacerbate the problem.
How do I affix the inserts to my mosaic?
When creating a mosaic on wood (indoor only), Wedi board, or fibre cement, the following work well for each of these substrates.
Wood Substrate:
Weldbond Adhesive: Weldbond is a versatile adhesive that works well on wood surfaces. It dries clear and provides a strong bond for ceramic inserts.
Mastic Adhesive (for example wall tile adhesive): Premixed mastic adhesive can be used on wood surfaces for mosaic projects. It’s easy to work with and suitable for indoor applications. However, note that mastic may not be ideal for outdoor or high-moisture environments.
Wedi Board Substrate:
Thinset Mortar: Thinset mortar is commonly used on cementitious backer boards like Wedi board. It provides excellent adhesion and durability. Make sure to use a thinset mortar that is suitable for your substrate and its intended use.
Fibre Cement Substrate:
Thinset Mortar (mosaic cement): Like with Wedi board, thinset mortar is a good option for fibre cement substrates as it offers a strong bond.

What forms of payment does Ceramic Candy accept?
We accept payment via Paypal, Google Pay, Afterpay, and all major credit cards and debit cards. All credit cards used for payment must have a valid billing address.
Are my payments secure?
All orders are encrypted with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology on both your end and ours. SSL encrypts all of your personal information including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. In order for SSL to work, you must use an SSL-enabled browser.
For your own safety we do not save any payment information. Payments are made directly through Stripe—certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, the most stringent level of certification, so we can guarantee that important information stays confidential and private.
Do you have a physical store I can visit?
Ceramic Candy is an exclusive online store based in Brisbane. Please note that we do not have a physical address or store open for public visitation. Our products are exclusively available for purchase through our website.
Shipping
Which countries do we ship to?
We are primarily only shipping Australia wide at the moment. However, if you would like to order from overseas we will gladly post your order to you, after calculating what the shipping rate would be for the country that you are ordering from.
How much will the delivery cost me?
We charge a flat rate fee of $12.50 for postage Australia-wide.
How long does it take normally for an order to arrive?
The total delivery time depends on the distance between you and our Brisbane studio. Orders are packaged and sent out within two working days of the order being placed, and tracking information is sent via Australia Post.
